| Jet Coast Development Trust is a not-for-profit
organisation created by a group of local individuals and others
who recognised the need for a social enterprise company. They
volunteered their time to address some of the problems in the
area. Over the years a lot of hard work from these individuals
has been channeled into the economic regeneration of the parish
of Hinderwell and Staithes. |

Initially funded through a ‘Start Up’ community
grant, Jet Coast Development Trust were successful in
attracting further funding from the Market Towns Initiative
Small Projects Fund. This additional funding enabled
employment of an administrator who, together with the
Jet Coast members worked to develop various aspects
of the company which has now received funding from ‘Awards
for All’ and ‘SRB’.
Jet Coast Development Trust was also successful in
bidding for European Objective 2, Priority 4 funding
to recruit business support workers for the Staithes
Gateway Centre.
The company established two subsidiaries, Hinderwell
& Staithes IT, which provided both basic and bespoke
IT training and an IT drop in centre; and, Breakaway
Healthy Eating, a support group for people wishing to
lose weight, learn how diet can affect health and take
part in gentle exercise.
Jet Coast Development Trust is hoping to develop several
training projects which will be targeted at retaining
scarce skills such as cobble laying, dry stone walling
and joinery. Jet Coast is also working in partnership
with North York Moors National Park, North Yorkshire
County Council and East Cleveland Youth Housing Trust
on these projects.

Jet Coast Development Trust’s
mission is to 'promote and nurture the
economy within the parish of Hinderwell'. All the volunteer
members of the organisation live within Staithes & Hinderwell,
and are committed to the economic regeneration cause. The
Trust is always on the look out for new members to help support
